For Sale is a Nazi Era Municipal Bond Certificates issued in 1941. Denominated 1000 Reichsmark, the bond certificate was equivalent to an average factory worker's 2-year wages during that period. Many of the Government and Municipal Bonds issued in Nazi Germany defaulted at the end of World War 2 as the Third Reich collapsed. Many investors lost not just the interest payable on these Bonds and Loans, but also the principal they had invested. Interestingly, there still are lawsuits out there against various governments and countries seeking repayment on the bonds and loans ( with interest on interest). In the unlikely eventuality they are successful, many of these bonds would be worth well over their face value, taking into account the compounded interest. That said, I'm not betting the house on that happening, hence these bonds are being sold as collectibles only.
Each bond features a rare embossed eagle and swastika emblem at the bottom left of the bonds along with individual signatures and serial numbers. Due to the interesting events that occurred during World War II and the Nazi Empire, Banknotes, coins, stamps and Bond certificates bearing the Nazi emblems have become highly collectible. Few of these Bond certificates were issued, and even fewer exist till today so don't miss out on this fantastic piece of history!
