Description

I AM NOT SELLING A KIT
,
only a new Jasco kit
PLAN
+ parts patterns from a 1946
THERMIC "C"
tow-line sailplane
ENLARGED
from 36" to 72" wing span.
The 1946 Jasco
THERMIC "C"
pod & boom, tow-line glider was an extremely popular semi-scale copy of the Baby Bowlus sailplane of the 1930s. The original model had a 36" wing span.
I HAVE DOUBLED THE SIZE OF THE PLANS TO GIVE YOU A 72" WING SPAN
.
In the 1930s a pusher engine was added to an enlarged pilot pod on the single seat
BABY BOWLUS
and it was called the
Nelson Bumble-Bee
. There was also a version called the
Dragonfly
. I had wanted to build this
THERMIC C
model as a powered sailplane but there was not quite enough room on the rear of model's pod for an engine.
So, I enlarged the 36" span model sailplane
PLAN
by 200% to a 72" span size of this great flying model---
as well as an enlargement of the printwood patterns
. My last picture is of the kit
PLAN
over
the enlarged 72" size
PLAN
.
You should have more options to add pusher power in the rear on this enlarged size.
I also include a copy of a great old multi-page article on flying towline gliders called
THERMAL HUNTERS
.
I AM NOT SELLING A KIT
, only a new, enlarged copy of the vintage kit
PLAN
plus all printwood parts patterns.
YOU ARE PURCHASING A NICE, CLEAN, WHITE FULL-SIZE COPY OF THE ENLARGED
PLAN
SHEET AND PARTS PATTERNS FOR THE DOUBLE-SIZE POD & BOOM SAILPLANE, FOLDED IN A MANILA ENVLOPE.
I DO NOT SEND COLOR COPIES OF THE COLOR PICTURES SHOWN ABOVE. THEY ARE SHOWN ONLY FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PLANNING PURPOSES.
