    Description

This piece is very hard to categorize, it is a piece of Folk Art and was a make-do shooting target not for a Carnival but for the makers children to play with. Some industrious individual with skills put this piece together in the late 19th to early 20th century. It is constructed of wood, sheet metal and tin. The form is an apple tree and you place the clay balls on the holder inside each hole, (only five original balls remain). Then you shoot at the balls with either a cork gun, BB gun or 22 cal. gun. The ball falls and lands in the apple pickers picker rod and he drops it into the basket below.
The original paint surface is wonderful. The tree is sheet metal, the basket on the back is sheet metal with an old tin repair, see photo. The trunk of the tree is wood covered with metal. The apple picker is carved wood as is the base. All original!
We have added two supports on the back to make it very sturdy and it is. Would look wonderful on a shelf displayed as folk art.
The piece is: 35" high x 27" wide and 10" deep. The base is 28" long. This is a one of a kind piece with a great look.
