    Description

Hazel has undergone a major restoration. The work is ~85% complete, mostly finish work remains.  This is a list of the major work performed on Hazel, but this is not an all inclusive list.  The boat is sea worthy and we have entertained a lot of friends and family with her on Lake Washington.  She is located on Lake Union in a slip on Portage Bay, convenient for spontaneous outings on Lake Union and Lake Washington.
Chrysler V8 marine engines, both pulled and rebuilt along with both Borg Warner transmissions.
Poorly designed gas tanks removed (covered shaft logs), two custom 60 gallon tanks fabricated and nested in custom cradles.
Bilge steam cleaned and scraped.  Several coats of grey epoxy paint laid down where engines would sit.  Custom fiberglass exhaust system fabricated and installed.  Hot water heater installed on bulkhead between engines, never used yet.  Requires plumbing to have house water.
New wood scarfed to stringers to provide suitable mounting locations for engines.
Rudder assemblies, through hull fittings, and all linkages removed and bead blasted.  New rudder log mounting plates installed.
New old stock shaft logs installed.  Engines installed and everything aligned to 15 degrees.  New stainless steel shafts.  Props were sent for repairs, polishing, and balance/tuned.
Boat hull was stripped, one broken plank found and replaced.  Hull re-grooved and painted.  Bottom was stripped and new joint compound was filled into all seams.  Chines all re-fastened with silicone bronze screws.  Red boot stripe added and two coats of copper bottom paint.
Entire back deck support framework was re-built.  Stainless steel struts were added in key locations to add additional support.  Old growth fir was procured and used to replace original fir decking, including all new hatch covers.
A portion of the stem was replaced in front of the chain locker, see pictures.  The V-berth portal was re-fabricated, the metal components re-chromed, and fitted with stained glass.  Viewed from inside the V-berth it is the profile of a salmon.  Teak foredeck was in good condition, just required refinishing.
Entire original canvas top removed from cabin.  Replaced with two layers of fiberglass cloth and skim coated.  Multiple coats of epoxy paint were added and sanded smooth.  Five coats of marine epoxy paint were applied and sanded down to 2000 grit and then finished with polishing compound.
Entire helm removed and used as pattern to fabricate new.  All gauges, shift levers, and throttles were procured and restored and re-chromed.  Temperature, fuel levels, oil pressure, and engine hours gauges added, and placed in discrete locations.  New wiring harness and fuse panel were fabricated and installed within helm cabinet.
Entire electrical system to allow plug in to shore power and maintenance charging of house batteries was installed.  Equipment installed in mahogany housing next to helm.
Custom support platforms were fabricated for the V-Berth to support sleeping quarters.  V-Berth walls were fitted with Brazilian Cherry slats fitted with stainless steel finish washers and screws.  Chain locker door with anchor cut out fabricated from bamboo.  V-Berth designed to hold 30 gallon fresh water tank and water pump.
All glass on the boat has been replaced with new safety glass with the exception of the port side cabin windows.  Fly bridge and front cabin window frames modified to upgrade to T-Style hinges and eliminate piano hinges on windows.
Cabin essentially gutted.  Sapele panels added to V-Berth bulkhead, original mahogany peppered with drilled holes.  Entire closet refabricated.  Dinette are completely refurbished.  Mahogany planks on wall, bamboo dinette table, all new cushions, cork floor.  Storage areas under seats and dinette.  Doors done in bamboo.  All doors feature anchor cutouts.  Dinette table sets down into seating supports, and cushions complete  sleeping area.
Entire head re-fabricated.  Vintage ceramic and bronze toilet procured.  Powder coated white.  Bamboo counter theme carried into head.  Mahogany slats on walls finish area.
Galley is incomplete, requires finish work.  Bamboo counter theme repeated here.  Isotherm fridge hidden behind mahogany door to maintain period look of the boat.  Overhead cabinets in galley for dishes.  Stained glass inserts that match the V-Berth portal repeated here.
All fittings that were originally chromed on the boat were re-chromed.  Custom hand blown light fixture hangs over closet, matching sconces cover overhead lights on port and starboard sides.
Includes and wet suites, ski ropes, and innertubes that can be pulled behind the boat.
