1920s Promo Photograph Circus Midget, Jennie Reynolds, Miller Bros. Circus. The photo shows her standing on the running board of a 1920's car. On the back the label states, "Jennie Reynolds, midget with Miller Bros. Wild West Shows in 1920. She was from Tennessee, and also worked for Ringling & Barnum & Baily Circus during her circus career. At the time she was the smallest woman in the world - only 32 inches tall and weighing 29 pounds. A remarkable woman, she graduated from the Univ. of Tennessee but also knew how to cook, made all her clothes. She died in 1960 at 74 years old. The photo is in excellent condition - clean and crisp, minor surface abrasions, strong edges and corner are quite strong, lightly curled along the vertical axis. The Photograph measures approx. 7-1/8” x 5” (18 cm. x 12.7 cm.)
The photo shows a very small woman standing on the running board of a 1920's car.   On the back the label states, "Jennie Reynolds, midget with Miller Bros. Wild West Shows in 1920.    Not much is know about her.  She was born in 1886 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.   Miss Reynolds worked for both Miller Bros., and Ringling & Barnum & Baily Circus during her circus career.
She was a perfectly formed little woman and claimed to be the smallest in the world. She was only 32 inches tall and weighed 29 pounds. To put that in perspective, hold a yard stick in your hand.   She was shorter than a yard.   She was the smallest woman in the (known) world at the time.
She was a graduate of the Tennessee University, which was quite remarkable for a woman at that time. And just like most women of the time, she knew how to cook, made all her clothes and often times helped her full-sized sister make hers. Both her sister and her brother were normal size.  She died in 1960 at 74 years old.
Condition
: This lovely photograph of "Jennie Reynolds" is in excellent condition - clean and crisp.  The surface has minor abrasions, however the edges and corner are quite strong.   The photo is slightly curled along the vertical axis as expected for unmounted photos such as this.
