    Description

This fantastic card is one in a series of 24 cards issu
    ed
    in the
    Unit
    ed
    States
.  One was wrapped with each loaf of Renz’s Bread  The series is entitl
    ed
“GREAT AMERICAN CIRCUS” and is list
    ed
as series D40 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue.  The front of the card features a copyright with the Illustrators name L.S. Evans.  I an  unsure of an exact date of issue.  However Renz issues another series of die cut cards (D54 Mother Goose Series) similar to this by L.S. Evans as well that features a copyright date of  1922 on the front of those cards.  I have always assumed that this series was issued around that year as well.   The Front of the card features a colorful image of a certain aspect of a Circus.  This CARD FEATURES THE SIDESHOW PERFORMERS Cruely reffered to as the Circus FREAKs or FREAKSHOW. The cards have been die cut so that you could fold the card into a stand up figure like many of the early advertising Paper toys Dolls.   The back provides information about the series and advertising for RENZ  Bread.
    Because it was design
    ed
as a die cut toy, I imagine that not many remain
    ed
intact over the years.  Most probably fell apart as children played with them, and then they were discarded.
The Card  measures 5 inches by  3  inches approximately. The card does have some edge wear, and has been popped out at somepoint.  It is free from creases except the factory fold over line.  I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself .  This is a scarce series that is coveted by Circus Collectors as well as Card collectors.  Great cross over appeal
I  will be trying to list several  EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes.  To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click  on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border.  I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship  Monday Mornings
.  If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday  the item will have to wait until the next Monday  to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable.  If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again.
I will COMBINE SHIPPING within Canada and the USA on items of similar size that are sold on the same day.
I am sorry but ebay's global shipping program does not allow combined shipping on International shipments.
